Miscellany Post 1.02 [Things To Take on Your Hotel Self-Exile, 8Teen, Battlestar Galactica S:4]

8Teen.
Why... Oh, Why!... do I like watching 8Teen?!?! It's not like I had boring high school years. And I can't say they were the funnest, because my Having Fun quotient only increases as my Eras come and go. My Rave-Day era still counts as my most fun. So I don't know I find 8Teen so fun. But I do! I can't say that it's a new 'fandom'... but I'll be buying the DVDs if they are ever released.

Self-Exile.
Well, I'm at the hotel. I'm staying in an Extended Stay America. Why? Well, because I'm staying until Monday morning, when I'll be leaving straight to work. I didn't really want to do expensive room service at a hotel, nor did I want to eat Fast Food all the time. If I went back home, it would have to be for an emergency of some sort. So... a place where I can cook microwave something for viddles was important. The ESA is close to my house, so if I need to, it's just a hop, skip, jump [and maybe a bit of a moonwalk] away.

I check in to a room that looks remarkably like the one pictured--I'm sure they all look like this--at approximately 2:35pm this afternoon and went back home after I took a look at the room and took stock of what I needed to bring with me.

So, I present to you my learnings.

Things You'll Need During Your Writer's Self-Exile
[Yes, even if you're staying at an Extended Stay America]

Things to Take and Things to Not Take... )

Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica has been playing rather non-stop since I've been here, tho' I haven't really been paying attention. I do like how they've dropped the post-9/11 Fear-of-the-enemy-within schtick but I don't know how I feel about the whole war being fought between Man who believes in multiple gods and Machine who believe in one and wants to 'save' Man. I'll have to revisit some episodes, tho', because I'm missing more than I'm catching. [But that's a good thing, considering the reason I'm here in the first place!]

Well, I'm gonna get off this thing—er, well... the internet, at least. Will check back in [pun meant] tomorrow! It's back to work for me!!!!

Big Gay Footnotes:
* You could play movies on your lappie, probably, but since I'll be 'working', I don't want to be flipping back and forth between windows. Dedicated machines for dedicated work, as they saying goes. [No, it doesn't—but it should!]
** Ditto.

Miscellany Post 1.03 [HP Meme... Hotel Exile: Day 2!]

HP Sorting Meme
Well, I took that HP Sorting Meme that's been going around, just for shits and giggles. It didn't sort me any differently than before [altho' I must admit I prefer Slythindor or Slytherdor hence [info]slythindor100. I think it's because there's a better balance in Slythindor [5 letters from both houses], whereas the other one implies that I'm more Slytherin. Er... maybe it knows something about me that I don't know?!?!?! Is it trying to tell me something?!?!?

Results under the covers... )

Hotel Exile [Day 2]
Well, it's day two at the Extended Stay America. Remind me next time—and there will be a next time—to bring more fruit with me. I've been snacking all day, and if I keep doing this with any sort of regularity, I'll probably gain 10 pounds! But I got a lot accomplished, considering:

All-in-all, I consider this experiment a success! I recommend anyone who can afford to do it, do it! Obviously, if you have the discipline to lock yourself in your own room in your own crib and know that no one will bug you, well... obviously do that and save some money. But I lack that discipline. If someone would have called me during my Exile, and had I had my cellphone, I would have answered it. If they would have offered me something to do—Perkins, clubbing, whatever—I would have taken them up on it. Especially around 1 a.m. last night. I had a horrible "I'm Bored!" patch. I didn't think I was going to get through it! I almost went to X-Tube to pass the time! What did I do instead? I Nair'd my chest...

Yes, you read rightly.

Nair'd my chest.

And damn is it smoooooooove. Didn't burn like I thought it would. I almost did my legs and arms, but thought better of it. I'm not one who shudders at the thought of body hair on dudes. But, hey... I was bored. Better Nair-on-the-chest than Clippers-at-the-hair, which has resulted in some horrible hair-don'ts in my past.

Well, now that I've officially taken this into TMI-Land for some of you, I'm sure, I'm off to work some more. I can't stay up too late tonight; I've work tomorrow and it's Hell Week. For the two years that the call center has been opened, the month of January has been historically the worst for the call center. And, since I did get call center training, and since I did get back-end/pick-and-pack training, I'll be doing a little bit of both for mandatory OT aside from my regular duties. Oh, and no Paid-Time-Off [PTO] for this month either—that's been good and frozen. So... don't expect to hear much from me next week.

Good night, all! Thanks for being there for my Experiment in Exile!  It was fun; I'll definitely do it again!
